Learning Platform Meta-Competencies (DE)

Building a German learning platform for meta-competencies.

Goals: • Very low-cost operation (about 10 EUR per month) • Robust, scalable and minimalist system for learning in German

Implementation: IONOS Webhosting Plus with Performance Level 5 for sufficient performance reserves. Unmanaged WordPress as CMS with the Academy theme. Full design customization. Automatic translation via the DeepL API. CDN integration via bunny.net with pull zone and geo-replication over 15 points of presence. Own hostname: cdn.meta-kompetenzen.org. Streaming service for 1440p learning videos via bunny.net including geo-replication, basic DRM protection, watermarks, blocking of direct URL access and MP4 fallback.

Based on user feedback and own insights, the English sister platform meta-competencies.org was created.

Restart on 13.12.2023: Due to lack of time and prioritization of other projects, the platform had so far only existed structurally with little content. Speed depended not only on the server but also on two plugins whose performance was insufficient. IONOS tariffs offer only limited scaling options.

New goals: • Move to a new hosting provider (Linode or Hetzner) • Increase performance through optimization of cache, CDN, DNS and server • Complete and market the taster course • Optional creation of a paid course • Increase WordPress installation security • Collaboration with a second course author and a web designer
